Mweya Safari Lodge
Mweya Peninsula, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda
Mweya Safari Lodge is set on the Mweya Peninsula in Queen Elizabeth National Park, on a ridge between Lake Edward and the Kazinga Channel. Most rooms and the terraces look down over the water, where hippos, buffalo and elephants come to drink, with the Rwenzori Mountains on the horizon when the cloud lifts.
It is one of the easiest places in Uganda to see a lot in a short time. Game drives, a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel and chimpanzee tracking at Kyambura Gorge are all within reach, and the lodge has a large pool for the hours in between.

Activities
Queen Elizabeth gives you savannah, water and forest in one park, and Mweya puts all three within easy reach.

Game drives
Morning and afternoon drives in open-sided vehicles look for elephant, buffalo, hippo, lion and the park’s many antelope. Night drives can be added.

Kazinga Channel cruise
A boat trip along the channel brings you close to hippos, buffalo and elephants at the water’s edge, with a huge variety of waterbirds. Many guests call it the highlight of the stay.

Chimpanzee tracking
Kyambura Gorge, a sunken forest not far from the lodge, is home to a habituated chimpanzee community, and tracking them is an unforgettable morning.

Birdwatching
With more than 600 bird species recorded in the park, the peninsula is a rewarding place for birders of every level.

Walks and cultural visits
Guided nature walks and visits to local communities add variety on the days between drives and cruises.
