Apoka Safari Lodge
Kidepo Valley National Park, Uganda
Apoka Safari Lodge looks out over the open savannah of Kidepo Valley National Park, in the far north-east of Uganda where the country meets the borders of South Sudan and Kenya. Rocky outcrops, wide plains and distant mountains make it one of the most remote and dramatic safari settings in East Africa.
The lodge has just ten rooms, so the feel is private and unhurried. Days begin with game drives or bush walks, and end with a drink on the veranda or a dip in the rock-carved pool above a waterhole.

Activities
Kidepo is wild, wide and quiet. Expect long views, few other vehicles and wildlife you will not find in most of Uganda.

Game drives
Morning and afternoon drives, with spotlit night drives, look for lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant, buffalo, giraffe and zebra across the plains.

Bush walks
Walking with an expert guide lets you read tracks, hear the bush and enjoy the landscape at a slower pace.

Birdwatching
More than 460 bird species are recorded in Kidepo, including many that are found nowhere else in Uganda.

Picnics and sundowners
Private dinners, bush breakfasts and sundowners out on the plains can all be arranged.

Karamojong village visit
Visit a local Karamojong village to learn about traditional life in this far northern region.
Access & location
Kidepo is remote. The road from Kampala is very long, so most guests fly into the park’s airstrip and are met for the short transfer to the lodge. We arrange flights and transfers and can link Kidepo with Murchison Falls or a gorilla trip.
