Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp is a luxury tented camp set deep inside Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, only minutes from the start of the gorilla treks. Ten tented rooms with timber floors and decking are tucked among the trees, and gorilla families have been known to wander through the grounds.
It suits travellers who want comfort and a sense of exclusivity at the very doorstep of the forest, with an open-air dining platform, a mini spa and an evening campfire to close the day.

Activities
Gorilla trekking comes first, with plenty to fill the hours around it, from a spa treatment to a ride through the villages.
Gorilla trekking
Treks start close to the camp, and visitors must be 15 or over. Permits are limited, so we book yours early. Guests who find the terrain difficult can arrange to be carried in a sedan chair by porters.
Guided walks and birding
Walks with a guide along forest trails reveal birds, butterflies and smaller primates, and Bwindi is one of the best forests in Uganda for birdwatching.
Batwa cultural visit
Spend time with the Batwa, the forest’s original people, to hear how they lived in and around Bwindi before it became a national park.
Village cycling
Cycling tours through nearby villages are run with a local women’s cycling enterprise, a relaxed way to see everyday life around the park.
Spa and wellness
A small spa at camp is ideal for easing muscles after a day on the forest trails.
Access & location
The camp lies inside the national park. The drive from Kampala is long, so many guests fly to a nearby airstrip and transfer in by road. We organise transfers, permits and timing so that you arrive rested for your trek.

Meals are served in a dining cottage overlooking the rainforest, with a raised natural platform for eating in the open air. Evenings end around the campfire, and the small gift shop sells local crafts and practical extras.
