Detailed itinerary of 3 Days Bwindi Gorilla Trekking Safari from Kigali

Day 1: Kigali City Tour, Transfer to Bwindi

To start your safari, you will picked by our company representative – your driver guide, he will brief you about the safari and then embark a Kigali City Tour visiting sites like the Kigali Genocide Memorial. Thereafter, you will start a journey to Uganda with border crossing at Cyanika border. After clearing with the border authorities, continue with your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park while enjoying the beautiful views of the highlands and hills of Rwanda and Southwestern Uganda. Lunch will be enjoyed en-route. Check in at the lodge, spend the rest of the day at relaxation as you wait for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Experience in Bwindi Forest

Wake up early for breakfast, meet your guide and head to the park’s headquarters for briefing about gorillas with your packed lunch. During the briefing, a senior ranger guide will take you through rules and regulations to follow and the right to conduct yourself while in the presence of the mountain gorillas. In groups of 8 people, you will be allocated a gorilla family to trek, head into the forest looking for mountain gorillas. The trek takes approximately 30 minutes to 6 hours or more depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night.

With a help of a ranger guide, you will locate the gorilla family and be allowed to spend one hour in their presence watching them go on with their life in the forest, groom, feed and play and take pictures and videos. During your gorilla trekking in Bwindi, you will also be able to see other primates and animals like forest elephants sharing the forest with mountain gorillas. After this mind-blowing encounter with the gentle giants, you will trek back to the park headquarters, pick your gorilla trekking certificates, meet your guide and head back to the lodge for an evening of rest.

Day 3: Departure 

Enjoy a leisure breakfast, meet your guide and check out of your lodge and embark on a journey back to Kigali with border crossing at Cyanika Border. In case you missed the Kigali City on the first day or wishing to explore the city more, you will do it this day. 

Later, your guide will drop you off either at your hotel or at Kigali International Airport to catch your flight back home bring your Uganda gorilla trekking safari to an end.
