On this safari package, you will have an encounter with mountain gorillas in the misty forests and stay in their presence for one hour watching them play on tree branches.

Situated in the far northwest of Rwanda, Volcanoes National Park is the most popular national park in the country, protecting the steep slopes of the magnificent Virunga mountain range. The park is famous for offering the most accessible gorilla trekking experiences in the region and is one of the only four parks where gorilla trekking is possible in the world.

Volcanoes National Park protects 10 habituated gorilla families and on this short 3 Days Rwanda Gorilla Safari, you will be assigned one of the gorilla families. Expect to spend one hour with the gorillas in the misty of protects of Rwanda.

Detailed Itinerary of 3 Days Rwanda Gorilla Safari

Day 1: Arrive in Rwanda- Volcanoes National Park

On arrival, your driver guide will brief you about the details concerning your 3 days Rwanda gorilla safari and transfer you to Volcanoes National Park “Parc des National”. From Kigali City, it is a drive of approximately two hours.

When you arrive in Kigali City earlier, you will have a visit to the National Museum or the Genocide Memorial Centre then have lunch and transfer to the park in the afternoon.

Meal Plan: Lunch and Dinner

Day 2: Volcanoes National Park– Gorilla trekking – Twin lakes visit/ Community walk

Have early breakfast and head to the park’s headquarters by 08 am for briefing about gorilla trekking, rules and regulations to follow and be assigned in groups of 8 people a gorilla family to trek. With a ranger guide, you will head into the forests looking for mountain gorillas. The trek normally takes about 3 hours to 6 hours or more depending on the movement of mountain gorillas and their feeding range.

When you locate the gorilla group you are trekking, you will be allowed to spend only 1 hour while observing their behavior and taking amazing pictures

Later return to your lodge for lunch at your lodge, in the afternoon. You will go for a visit to the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo or take a walk in the community and watch traditional dances of the locals or if you just relax in the afternoon at your lodge.

Day 3: Departure

Have a morning breakfast at your leisure, check out of your lodge and embark on a journey back to Kigali City. Depending on your flight schedule, you will have a short time shopping from local markets where you can buy souvenirs and also visit the pottery project and the Franco – Rwandan Cultural Center. Enjoy lunch and later be dropped off at the airport for your flight back home.
